Day 4 : Palestine & Jerusalem

OK so we went to West Bank in Palestine. We crossed the border, security with large machine guns checked our passports & let us drive in. The occasion was Bethlehem & it was well worth the trip. I didn't think I would be so moved by standing in the cave where Jesus was born but I have to say is was very powerful.
The church built above his birthplace is Greek Orthodox. I love this tapestry.

To top it off I saw the photos JR (one of my favorite street artists) pasted up on the wall separating West Bank & Jerusalem. The project is called Face2Face. He took photos of both Israeli & Palestinian citizens - pasting huge images of them next to each other. Of course neither the Israeli's nor the Palestinians could decipher who was who. I heard about this when I was in the U.S. thinking it was so brave of him to go there and do this, but really West Bank felt just like Israel & the locals were equally as sweet.

Lunch in Jerusalem.

Ellie the tour guide.

Gorgeous light shining in onto the Holy Sepulcher, where Jesus was buried.

Station 9, the third place Jesus fell with the cross, Via de la Rosa. Yes, they actually have these crosses for tourists to pose with & yes I proudly held the cross in Jesus's image.

Before we descended down to the Western Wall.

A Beautiful image of the Dome of the Rock from the eastern side of the Western Wall, Muslim Quarters.
